Description

Amish Sunday Savior Casserole is the ultimate comfort food classic. This hearty, cheesy casserole is packed with egg noodles, seasoned ground beef, and a rich creamy tomato-mushroom sauce—perfect for potlucks, Sunday dinners, or cozy family meals. Quick to prep and oven-baked to bubbly perfection, it brings nostalgic Amish-style flavor to your table.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz egg noodles or wide pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, brown ground beef with diced onion and garlic until no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, and optional paprika or Italian seasoning.

  4. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and tomato sauce until smooth.

  5. Combine noodles, beef mixture, and sauce. Stir well to coat.

  6. Transfer to prepared baking dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  8. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Substitute ground beef with turkey or sausage for variety.
  • Add veggies like frozen peas, corn, or spinach for a nutrition boost.
  • Use cream cheese instead of sour cream for extra richness.
  • Sprinkle crushed crackers or French-fried onions on top for crunch.
  • This dish freezes well and can be made ahead.
