Description

These Asian-Style Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a quick and healthy meal bursting with bold flavor. Savory ground beef cooked in a ginger-soy sauce gets spooned into crisp lettuce leaves and topped with crunchy veggies for a refreshing, low-carb dinner that’s ready in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup chopped water chestnuts (optional)
  • 1 head butter lettuce or romaine leaves
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions until soft.

  2. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. Stir in ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon as it browns. Cook until fully browned, then drain excess grease.

  4. Return skillet to heat and stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and brown sugar.

  5. Add chopped water chestnuts and simmer for 3–5 minutes to blend flavors.

  6. Spoon the beef mixture into individual lettuce leaves.

  7. Top with shredded carrots, green onions, and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey, chicken as an alternative to beef.
  • Make it low-carb or keto by skipping the sugar or using a substitute.
  • Add sriracha or chili garlic sauce for heat.
  • Top with chopped peanuts or crispy noodles for extra crunch.
  • Serve with rice or rice noodles for a more filling meal.
