Description

These Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Bites are golden, crispy, and bursting with sweet, spiced flavor. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or snacking, this easy French toast recipe turns cubes of bread into bite-sized treats coated in a caramelized cinnamon sugar swirl. Quick to make, fun to eat, and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast), cut into cubes
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, divided
  • 2 tbsp sugar (granulated or brown sugar)
  • 12 tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, or cream cheese glaze

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
  2. Add cubed bread to the bowl and gently toss to coat. Let soak for 2–3 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix remaining 1 tsp cinnamon with sugar to make the swirl topping.
  4. Heat butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add soaked bread cubes in a single layer. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top.
  6. Cook until all sides are golden and slightly crisp, turning gently with tongs or a spatula.
  7. Serve warm, topped with powdered sugar or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for best texture.
  • Add nutmeg or pumpkin spice for a festive twist.
  • Brown sugar creates deeper caramel flavor.
  • Turn these into skewers for a fun party brunch.
  • To bake: Spread on a lined sheet pan and bake at 375°F for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
