Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter (plus more for finishing)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 oz short pasta (penne, rotini, shells, etc.)
- 2 1/2 – 3 cups beef broth or water (enough to just cover pasta)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Sauté Onion & Beef:
In a large pot or deep skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until softened. -
Cook Beef:
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. -
Add Garlic:
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. -
Cook Pasta in Broth:
Add uncooked pasta and pour in beef broth until just covered. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed. -
Make it Creamy:
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Mix until sauce is smooth and creamy. -
Finish and Serve:
Stir in a bit of extra butter and top with fresh parsley. Serve hot.
Notes
- Protein Swap: Use ground turkey, chicken, or Italian sausage for variety.
- Add Veggies: Stir in spinach, mushrooms, or peas near the end.
- Spice it Up: Add red pepper flakes or a splash of Worcestershire for a flavor boost.
- Cheesy Finish: Top with shredded mozzarella and bake for 10 minutes for a bubbly crust.
