Ingredients
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Nonstick spray or light oil (for air fryer)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat until butter melts.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour and baking powder. Mix until a dough forms.
- Let dough cool slightly, then mix in egg until smooth and glossy.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe bite-sized pieces onto parchment or directly into air fryer basket.
- Lightly spray churro bites with oil.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- While still warm, toss churro bites in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve immediately with optional chocolate, caramel, or dulce de leche dipping sauce.
Notes
- For filled churros, pipe a bit of Nutella or cream cheese into the center of the dough before air frying.
- Add vanilla extract or orange zest to the dough for extra flavor.
- For a dairy-free version, use plant-based butter and omit the egg (texture will be denser).
- Best served fresh, but can be reheated in the air fryer.
