Description

This flavorful taco meat recipe is your go-to for easy, delicious weeknight dinners. Perfect for tacos, burritos, or nachos, this quick and versatile taco meat is made with a savory homemade seasoning blend that’s family-friendly and ideal for meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the meat.
  4. Pour in beef broth or water. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve in tacos, burritos, or over nachos.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, swap beef for ground turkey or chicken.
  • Add black beans, corn, or salsa for extra flavor and variety.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in a skillet or microwave until warmed through.
