Description

This easy Garlic Butter Oven Baked Tilapia is a fast, healthy dinner made with flaky tilapia fillets, melted butter, garlic, and lemon. Baked to perfection in under 20 minutes, this light and flavorful dish is perfect for weeknights and pairs beautifully with any side. It’s also low-carb, gluten-free, and meal prep–friendly.

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Paprika (optional, for color)
  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Place tilapia fillets in a single layer in the dish. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).

  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and lemon juice.

  4. Pour the garlic butter sauce evenly over the fish.

  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

  6. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon slices.

Notes

  • Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan to the butter mixture for extra richness.
  • Substitute cod, haddock, or another white fish if preferred.
  • For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Use lime juice instead of lemon for a citrusy twist.
  • Make it dairy-free by using olive oil or vegan butter.
