- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread (or pizza dough or naan)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Parmesan for a sharper flavor)
- 1–2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning (optional)
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
-
Prep Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Prepare Bread: Slice loaf in half lengthwise. Place both halves cut side up on the baking sheet.
-
Mix Butter: In a bowl, combine softened butter, garlic, and a pinch of salt if needed.
-
Butter the Bread: Spread garlic butter generously over both halves.
-
Add Cheese: Top with mozzarella and cheddar (or cheese of choice), spreading evenly to the edges.
-
Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Broil (Optional): Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden, crisp top—watch closely!
-
Serve: Let cool briefly, then slice into sticks or squares and serve hot.
Notes
- Add marinara under the cheese for pizza bread.
- Try cheeses like provolone, gouda, feta, or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
- Top with red pepper flakes or jalapeños for heat.
- Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
