Description

Philly Steak Cheese Fries are the ultimate indulgent appetizer or meal, featuring crispy golden fries piled high with tender ribeye steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and melty cheese. Inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak, this crave-worthy dish is perfect for game day, parties, or whenever you need cheesy, meaty comfort—no bun required!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen French fries (or homemade fries)
  • ½ lb thinly sliced ribeye steak or sirloin
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella, American, or cheese sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh herbs or extra cheese sauce for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the fries according to package instructions or preferred method until golden and crispy.
  2. While fries are cooking, heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onions and peppers, sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Push veggies to the side of the skillet and add the sliced steak. Season with salt and pepper and cook until just browned, about 3–4 minutes.
  5. On a baking sheet or oven-safe dish, layer the cooked fries, then top with the steak and sautéed veggies.
  6. Sprinkle or pour cheese over the top.
  7. Broil on high for 1–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs or extra cheese sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Ribeye gives the best flavor, but sirloin or flank steak work well when thinly sliced.
  • For a vegetarian twist, substitute steak with mushrooms or plant-based meat alternatives.
  • Customize with jalapeños, pepper jack, or a drizzle of ranch or hot sauce.
  • Best served fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer to keep fries crispy.
