Description

This Slow Cooker Steakhouse Potato and Steak Casserole is a hearty, comforting dinner packed with tender steak, buttery potatoes, melty cheddar cheese, and savory crumbled beef. Everything simmers together in the crockpot for a rich, flavorful meal that brings all the cozy steakhouse vibes—no oven needed. Perfect for busy weeknights, family dinners, or make-ahead meal prep!

Ingredients

  • Steak (sirloin or chuck, cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • Potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet, peeled and chopped)
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Cooked ground beef (crumbled)
  • Green onions or chives (for garnish)
  • Sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Toss the steak pieces in olive oil and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Layer chopped potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker, then place the seasoned steak on top.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until steak is tender and potatoes are soft.
  4. About 15–20 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded cheese and cooked crumbled ground beef over the top. Cover again to melt the cheese.
  5. Scoop into bowls and garnish with green onions or chives. Serve with a spoonful of sour cream if desired.

Notes

  • Add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms for more vegetables.
  • Use crushed red pepper or pepper jack cheese to add heat.
  • Substitute cheddar with Colby Jack or mozzarella based on preference.
  • Swap in sweet potatoes for a naturally sweet and nutritious variation.
  • If you’re out of steak, use shredded beef roast or cooked ground beef for a similar hearty result.
